“But what does she know about One Piece?” “They literally have a pirate Vtuber, but they still chose Calli” (referring to Marine, who is a pirate). “How did we go from Ado to a racist Vtuber?” “We went from Ado to this in less than a year.” “This was one of the first defeats we’ve had.” Well, as I mentioned above, the Japanese fans were very happy with the collaboration, but how did Western fans react? Mori is somewhat controversial in the West, with the infamous “netorare” controversy that caused a lot of discussion when it happened. The collaboration song between One Piece and Mori Calliope was recently released on YouTube, and you can watch it in the video below:īut as I mentioned, the difference in the reaction from the two audiences was quite interesting to see. Hololive manages a lot of the Vtuber scene. To put it simply, Calli, like other Vtubers, streams for her parent company Hololive. The reason why Calli has to get approval to stream Persona 3 likely has to do with Japanese copyright laws. She streams games using a virtual avatar, and she's also known for releasing rap songs that became best sellers on iTunes. According to Polygon, an Atlus representative said that they were " looking into" the request, and that this was the first the developer had heard of the issue.Calli, or Mori Calliope, is one of many popular Vtubers that have taken over the internet this year. The tag is filled with many fans repeating Calli's pleas to play Persona 3, with the community uniting to grant Calli this single goal. This birthed the hashtag #CallioP3, and for a brief time, it was one of the top trending subjects on Twitter along with Persona 3.
